Sanofi

Branding a platform built to resist it

UI design
Digital branding/brand application
Interaction concepting
Brief
Sanofi's internal event had a bold visual identity and a branded calendar system, designed in house at Conran. My role was to apply that identity across Sanofi's Microsoft Sharepoint intranet, a platform with limited design and development flexibility, and solve the interaction challenges that came with it, working closely with a developer at Sanofi.
Outcome
Since the branded pages launched, visits to the Sharepoint site increased by 176%, which is proof that a small, focused design intervention could meaningfully shift engagement on a notoriously rigid platform. The solution became the standout idea of the project and shows that platform limitations don't have to mean design compromise.

The starting point

Sanofi's SharePoint intranet, before any trace of the event's identity.

The problem

Converting the calendar into clickable cards meant losing the branding entirely, or alternatively having the branded calendar visual but with functional cards beneath which means doubling up on the same information.

The solution

Invisible hotspots layered over each session resulted in full interactively and the ability to link out to other pages with the branding preserved.
